15 Wrestling Matches You Won't Believe Happened In 2018

6. 40-Man Battle Royal (WAW September To Remember 2)

Famous only for the finish (and perhaps, the family promoting the show), World Association of Wrestling's September To Remember 2 main event succeeded in its stated aim of going viral in the United Kingdom after former Premier League footballer Grant Holt made his unofficial in-ring debut with an emphatic - and not entirely embarrassing - victory.

Appearing for the Norwich-based WAW (where - for those non-football readers - he is most beloved), husky former centre forward Holt serviceably skinned the cat (with the help of an eliminated battle royal babyface) to launch a dropkick at Kosta K and claim the 'Crusher Mason Battle Royal' win. The finish broadly mirrored Shawn Michaels' 1995 Royal Rumble victory, though 'HBK's noted support of Blackburn Rovers at the time meant he probably had little care for whatever 'The Canaries' were up to anyway.

It was all to build to a tag match between Holt and Zak Knight against Kosta and partner Prince Malik, though the novelty of Holt moving from grass to canvas will wear off quickly if he can't fight and hustle between the ropes as well as he could in the six-yard box.
