15 WWE Champions Who Never Got Their Big Rematch

1. Hulk Hogan (Ultimate Warrior)

This has to be one of the all-time head-scratchers in terms of leaving money on the table. Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI was one of the biggest matches of that era. The match pitted two of the most popular superstars in WWE at the time against each other, and their Mania bout was about as even as possible €“ Warrior only one by capitalizing on a mistake by Hogan. This could have easily headlined SummerSlam or drawn huge numbers for a Main Event program. Instead, Warrior went on to feud with €œRavishing€ Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect, while Hogan engaged in a battle with Earthquake. Keeping these two apart and not letting Hogan invoke a rematch, even months down the road, left fans asking €œWhat if?€ and WWE with a lost opportunity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfqV3xI8l_s Sadly, fans had to wait eight years to get that rematch, and by that point, the magic was long gone and the feud had degenerated into two past-their-prime stars seemingly trying to out-crazy the other with promos. And let€™s not even get into the match. It was a sad sequel to something so memorable. Let€™s just hope WWE doesn€™t make a mistake of that proportion again.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
