15 WWE Pushes That IMMEDIATELY Backfired

3. Mabel (1995)

Legend has it that, if you download a 'King' Mabel CAW in WWE 2K25 and try to push him to the top in Universe Mode, then the game immediately crashes, uninstalls and the disc (if you have one) flies out of your console into the nearest bin. This feature has been included in the new patch. Obviously not, but it's hardly like anybody is going to do something so insane anyway.

Vince McMahon did it for real back in 1995. Let that sink in for a minute.

Slow tag-team powerhouse Mabel somehow became King Of The Ring that year despite stars like Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker being in the same tournament. Sure, most get that the WWF wanted to create fresh upper card attractions and a monster for Diesel to work with as champion, but they clearly hadn’t been paying attention to his matches - Diesel was at his best when working with smaller, more dynamic wrestlers like HBK and Bret Hart. In his own words, he “needed movement”.

Mabel was never going to give him that, and he was a clumsy oaf who recklessly injured others without learning lessons from his mistakes. During his nightmare of a push during the second half of the year, Mabel hurt Diesel’s back and shattered ‘Taker’s face...all whilst working some of the worst matches fed fans had ever seen. Top job!

To recap, he was the least wanted 'King' yet, hurt a lot of guys with his reckless behaviour, and he wasn't somebody fans really wanted to watch anyway. Where was the upside here?
