16 Thing We Learned From Kevin Owens On Talk Is Jericho

14. Learning English From Jim Ross

Jericho asks if Owens already knew how to speak English before he broke into the business of if he learned on the road, and he responds with a story about how he first realized that he could understand it in fourth grade. Kevin picked up the language from WWE's famed play-by-play announcer, Jim Ross. He recants the story of a quiz he took in elementary school that asked what the English word for "elbow" was, and he remembered the answer from hearing Good Ol' JR call Vader dropping an elbow on his opponents. While training at The Mountie's school. he would use JR's catchphrases such as "slobberknocker" and "stomping a mudhole" in casual conversation with the English speaking trainees there, who eventually clued him in that those phrases weren't part of the every day language.
