16 Things We Learned From Paul Heyman On The Steve Austin Show

9. Promos

Once again Stone Cold praises Jake Roberts as being a master promo artist, and then says Paul Heyman is doing the best work in the history of the business right now, talking about how for the most part the current guys are hurting with these scripted promos. Paul says that in today's environment the question to ask is "Where's the money?", a lesson he learned from Dusty Rhodes. He tells a story of a promo he did early in WCW when he went over the top in his delivery, and he said he got backstage thinking it was the greatest ever and Dusty told him it was entertaining but that he didn't sell anyone on the product. Heyman says that a promo should always be about selling something, adding that sometimes a promo from him sometimes is only about saying "Brock Lesnar!" He said he worked a whole summer using the line about Brock conquering Taker's streak because that's what he was selling.
