16 Things We Learned From William Regal On Talk Is Jericho

10. Thoughts On WCW

Jericho asks what his opinion of WCW was and he replies that he has no complaints from his time there, and the only negatives were things that were entirely on him. He talks about getting paid every week and being able to work with greats like Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Terry Taylor. He points out that the company was using him to make lesser workers look better because his style and experience was such that he could take someone who was very green and essentially walk through an entire match, putting himself in and out of holds, but that after a few times around the loop fans started to catch on when they noticed those guys who weren€™t nearly as proficient when wrestling other opponents. When the audience became aware of his prowess, it started earning him cheers, and since it wasn€™t in his job description to be cheered he neutered his style and cut out a lot of the technical wrestling in favor of more villainy.
