16 Things You May Have Missed From WWE Money In The Bank 2018
1. Raised Briefcases
The Allstate Arena's sign game was strong last night, with the finest example coming during the main event, particularly as various wrestlers tried to scale the ladder to retrieve the Money In The Bank briefcase.
"Raise the briefcase," it red. Black text, neon yellow background, positioned perfectly between the ladder legs as Braun Strowman rose to victory.
This is a call-back to one of the Attitude Era's biggest unsolved mysteries, when 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin faced Shane and Vince McMahon at King Of The Ring 1999 for control of the company. The contract was conveniently suspended in a briefcase above the ring. At one point, Austin looked to have the match won, but somebody raised the prize up and away from his grasp as he clawed for it, which eventually allowed the McMahons to snatch victory.
The culprit was never revealed. It mattered little, as Austin became WWE Champion a day later regardless, but the sign was a welcome flashback to a near 19-year-old moment.
