9. The Steel Chairs To The Back Aren't That Safe

WWE banned chairs to the head many years back due to the concern of performer safety. It goes without saying, a chair to the head is going to do some damage. But what about chairs to the back? Ryback absolutely demolished Kane with several impactful chairs to the back at Smackdown. These were some really wild swings and the chair was pretty mangled afterwards. Kane still had to compete in a dark match, and when he stood back on the apron, you could see just how much those chair shots hurt. His entire back was red and welted. It looked like he had swelling and the whole area looked inflamed. You can't help but think, surely that's nearly as bad for a guy as a chair to the head? The shots are making contact with the spine, ribs and shoulders in most cases. Can that really be good for a forty-seven year old Kane? His back was a mess from the chair shots.
