17 Things You Need To Know From Attending UK WWE Raw And Smackdown
7. WWE Don't Understand UK Customs
The WWE clearly don't get or understand some UK customs and sayings. In America, the term "w*****s" is obviously considered a quaint english eccentricity. However, here in the UK, it is a serious swear word. Parents with young kids were not happy at this level of bad language being used on Raw. The incident was John Cena (the hero of the children) calling the Authority the curse word. It was wholly inappropriate. Another example of the lack of transatlantic understanding was related to the UK's Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. Raw fell between these two days, so you maybe expected some sensitivity. Nope. Lana cut a promo in which she disparaged the UK armed forces. The Smackdown tapings actually ended up going out on Armistice Day, by which point the WWE had obviously been clued up. Stephanie, Vince and Natalya all clearly wore a poppy.
