17 Things We Learned From John Cena On Chris Jericho's WWE Network Podcast
8. Steroids
Chris mentions Cena's always impressive physique and asks if he's ever taken any steroids or performance enhancing drugs, to which he replies in the negative. He says he was really lucky as a kid to be around motivated individuals, and then they show some pics of Cena as a 17-year old doing power-lifting and competing as a bodybuilder prior to joining WWE. He points out that any competition he ever did was drug tested, and they were something he pursued to keep him in shape. Chris describes his appearance in the pictures as incredible and says everyone will look at that and think he's on steroids, and Cena replies they would think that anyway, especially when a guy like Andy Pettitte gets busted for them and looks like a regular guy. Chris vouches for Cena being all-natural by comparing him to the only guy he's known for sure to have never used the juice, Lance Storm, and says that much like Cena his body has always looked the same. He also adds that he believes him to be clean because he's a "mutant", pointing out how he went in for neck surgery and then showed up at Raw later on that day. "You're a freak, man. Let's be honest." Cena says he just hates being away from the WWE.
