17 Things We Learned From The Dudley Boyz On Talk Is Jericho
3. Mae Young
Jericho asks about the gimmick when the Dudleys started putting the women through tables, and they name Terri Runnels, Lita, Trish and Mae Young as females who took the spot. Mae Young was 80 years old at the time and Jericho inquires about the entire story behind the angle. D-Von says he doesn't remember how it was pitched but that Mae was definitely for it, saying that she wanted to take the table bump off the top of a cage. Jericho asks "How crazy was she?" and Bubba responds "Mae Young was the toughest man I've ever met in pro wrestling." He mentions how she took the table bump in the ring, then again off the stage. After that she went to Vince and told him she wanted to do it off the top of the cage, but common sense prevailed and it never happened. Bubba puts over how much harder women like Mae and Moolah had to work to prove themselves during a time when the business was very different. "Mae Young and Moolah are tougher than fifty percent of the men in the industry today."
