Kevin Owens always thinks of new ways to be an innovative heel, but this week's was disarmingly simple. In an interview aired on the WWE Network before SmackDown (but repeated on the show itself), Owens shockingly claimed that Ambrose proved himself a tough cookie after his resilient performance on Raw, and deserved an Intercontinental Championship rematch by way of a reward. Renee then informed Owens that Dean was actually absent for the night, and KO's mock surprise was a thing of beauty. No title match for Ambrose, after all.
