18 Things You Might Have Missed From WWE Backlash 2018

2. The Ref's Decision Didn't Make Sense

Ignore for one second any anger you may feel that a second consecutive WWE Title match between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura ended in a no-contest (the Greatest Royal Rumble version was a double count out). Direct your attention instead to the fact that, unlike in Saudi Arabia, the referee's call made no sense whatsoever.

The idea that any match fought under No Disqualification guidelines still has any rules is preposterous. How were fans supposed to know that a match built up as the blow-off to AJ vs. Shinsuke could be ruined by the ref's count?

No DQ matches should come with zero rules, not a handful at the "referee's discretion". That's bogus, doesn't make sense and creates an unnecessary (and totally avoidable) rod for WWE's back.
