18 Ups & 15 Downs For WWE In 2023
11. LWO Fractures
As a faction, the LWO has been a perfectly fine mid-card act. It’s not a main event stable like the Bloodline, and it doesn’t dominate its brand’s storylines like the Judgment Day.
But the Latino World Order provided a home for the former Legado Del Fantasma while giving them a rub from Hall-of-Famer Rey Mysterio. The group’s high point came during Backlash when Savio Vega and Carlito returned to WWE to side with the LWO and help Bad Bunny overcome Damian Priest and the Judgment Day.
Things finally bubbled over this fall when Santos Escobar attacked Mysterio and left the group over Rey’s embrace of Carlito. Escobar as a jealous, egotistical superstar works well, and a program with Rey when he returns could further elevate the lucha libre superstar.
The fracturing also has opened the door for Dragon Lee to associate with the LWO, giving the new SmackDown star a purpose out of the gate. He’s already received Rey’s endorsement, which carries a lot of weight, and he adds some gravitas to the LWO while Mysterio and Carlito convalesce.
