18 Ups & 15 Downs For WWE In 2023

11. Nikki Cross

Here’s a stat that might surprise: The talented Nikki Cross has had only 10 televised matches this year (not counting Main Event), with half of them coming before WrestleMania 39.

This is surprising when you realize that Cross has been on WWE programming pretty regularly throughout the year. However, her appearances have been in service of a variety of attempts to portray her as “unhinged” or “crazy.” Cross’ last two matches this year have seen her in an almost-catatonic state, a gimmick played for “laughs” at several points in non-wrestling appearances.

More recently, Cross has been seen stalking Becky Lynch backstage, as if that is the missing component of how to make her a compelling character. Remember that Nikki was stalking Candice LeRae earlier as well, and everyone saw how well that storyline turned out for Cross.
