One of the most amazing things about Brock Lesnar is that he nearly died at his career peak. In late 2009 he was pulled from all of his UFC obligations due to a case of mononucleosis and diverticulitis. This required the very best healthcare, in addition to surgery on Lesnar's abdomen and intestine. Amazingly, Lesnar had been fighting the whole time with the life threatening condition. He then went on to recover from the surgery and successfully defeated Shane Carwin in his first fight back in July 2010. However, in 2011, the diverticulitis returned and Lesnar again needed surgery. This time a 12 inch piece of his colon needed to be removed. Brock did recover from the life threatening condition, but he was never the same in the Octagon. His career ended in a terrible effort against Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.
