19 Things We Learned From Kenny Omega On Edge & Christian's Podcast
10. Chemistry
January's match between Kenny and Kazuchika Okada was the first ever singles match between the pair. The only other time they had met was in a six-man tag as juniors where the final stretch saw Okada hit the Rainmaker on Kenny for the win. In that couple minute flourish, however, Omega knew that Okada was good. And come January, with the pair both viable heavyweights, Kenny knew that their match could be really good.
Kenny tells of how he and Okada went into this match with 100% trust in each other, which is why he did a couple of the spots that we saw without worrying about injury. He calls Okada "The Man" here, trusting that even if he undershoots a Moonsault, 'The Rainmaker' will be there to catch his fall. It's not about trusting in himself for Kenny, it's about trusting others too. He knew that since the Young Bucks were near the guard rail, he wouldn't be impaled on the damn thing if he was heading for it.
