There was nothing funny about the kicking both men took though.

WWE's cams did catch some welts appearing on Drew's back mid-way through the match, but they didn't show the full extent of the damage. Perhaps oddly, it didn't look like Sheamus' pale skin was worse for wear under those ring lights either, and he usually bruises like a peach.

Social media posts from Sheamus and McIntyre confirmed the pain. Christ, their backs, arms, ribs and stomachs were mincemeat following some of those kendo stick shots. Drew's back, in particular, was reminiscent of Daniel Bryan's chest at 2018's Greatest Royal Rumble.
