Jeff then challenged Tyrus to a match, but mere moments after it started, he appeared to stumble on the top turnbuckle and fall down onto his knee. Though this looked like a legitimate botch, we later learned that it was in fact a planned spot in the match, giving Jeff a kayfabe knee injury and forcing him to leave the arena to get it checked out at the hospital. The seemingly pointless match was over in about three minutes after Tyrus crotched Hardy on the ring post and pushed over a referee (resulting in a DQ win for Hardy), but as we later realised, it had a very particular purpose in how the night's events would play out...
