2 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dark (Jan 14)

Ups...

2. Like Butter

Excalibur Dave Brown
AEW

Get your AEW Dark Ups & Downs bingo cards out and put an "X" beside "Murray Praises the Guest Commentator," brothers and sisters, because here we go.

An extension of Dark's Memphis tribute, Dave Brown and his butter-smooth voice joined Excalibur in the booth and was tremendous. Not only does the 73-year-old still sound like a million dollars but he put real effort into putting the action, characters, and storylines over when it would've been easy for him to coast. He put over the stakes of winning and losing more than most who've occupied the chair since AEW started rotating the commentators too, and even threw out a little Flex Kavana reference early on. Shout-outs to Dwayne.

Warm, welcoming, and bringing a totally difference cadence and energy to AEW's other announcers, Brown was a winner. Listening to him calling matches for an hour was a nostalgic joy.
