2 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Dec 12)

Ups...

2. Squash Go The Weasels

Bludgeon Brothers Jobber

Yes, The Bludgeon Brothers vs. Colin Delaney and Joe Monroe was only a squash match, but it was, as usual, a total success, and therefore stood out on this grim episode of SmackDown.

These Harper and Rowan bouts are bags of fun. The formula will become rote if it isn't tweaked over the next few weeks, but they looked entirely convincing in running through lesser opposition, with this week's tandem lasting just 45 seconds. The Brothers entered the ring, ran through a couple of power moves, then finished a squealing Munroe off with their new crucifix slam finisher. Job done.

It was cool to see ex-ECW many Delaney back on WWE television, too, with our only regret being that we may never get to see a historic dream match between him and James Ellsworth.

The whole thing was preceded by another episode of the Fashion Files, with Breezango brazenly challenging the Bludgeons for Clash Of Champions. Harper and Rowan will go over, but it should be an enjoyable undercard contest regardless, and it'll be good to see if the reunited Brothers still look convincing outwith the squash match setting.
