2 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE NXT UK (10 June)

WALTER NXT UK Champion

The return of NXT UK Champion WALTER was one of the major talking points coming into last night’s episode, even more so when considering the culmination to last Thursday. There, Joe Coffey, Rampage Brown, and Ilja Dragunov – all three being viable names to end ‘The Ring General’s’ reign – had a staredown.

You had every right to be excited for this. Then, WALTER opened his mouth.

The Imperium man laid down the facts. He is the longest-reigning champion of the modern WWE era. He did defend the NXT UK Championship on two back-to-back nights on two different continents. His motivation whenever he wrestles hasn’t changed.

This was all he had to say. There was no interruption from either of the three aforementioned potential challengers, nor did WALTER even mention them by name. Essentially, he was there to tell us things were precisely the way he had left them. It defines pointlessness. This could have easily been a pre-taped vignette rather than an in-ring promo because it was that short. This was hyped up far too much for what it actually was.
