20 Best Triple H Wrestling Matches Ever
5. Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin - No Way Out 2001
This match came about after it was revealed that Triple H was behind Rikishi running over Steve Austin in 1999. After Stone Cold won the 2001 Royal Rumble, the Game would try and thwart him one more time at No Way Out in a Three Stages of Hell match.
The feud became personal when, with the announcement of a no-contact cause between the Rattlesnake and the Game, Austin would attack Stephanie McMahon, after which Hunter would attack Austin's friend Jim Ross. That extra animosity created one of the best matches of the year.
Starting with a straight singles match, which Austin won after catching Hunter off the top rope with a Stunner. Following that, the second fall was competed in a No Holds Barred contest, complete with all the weapon mayhem that the era, and especially Austin was known for. Though with that in mind, the Cerebral Assassin took an absolute pummelling in this section of the match but he could give just as much, earning a pinfall over Austin for the tie.
Finally a steel cage was lowered onto the ring for the final third. The weapons and the cage were used to great effect and both men proved they were each other's equal, with neither man's finisher able to keep the other down. Only after a simultaneous weapon shot did the match end, with both exhausted men fall to the ground, and Hunter landing on Austin for the cover.
