20 Best Wrestling Books Ever

12. Heartbreak & Triumph - Shawn Michaels With Aaron Feigenbaum

Damien Sandow With Book
Simon & Schuster UK

A companion piece to the WWE DVD of the same name, Heartbreak & Triumph could have been sickening had Shawn Michaels not elected to be so forthright. For years, fans heard the same stories about his arrogance and abrasive nature behind the scenes, and both are things Michaels is sincere about in his book.

By his own admission, he wasn't the easiest guy to get along with during his heyday. There's the sense that a passionate kid morphed into believing he really was his on-screen character, before undergoing a period of religious revelation.

Whether or not people agree with Shawn's 'Born Again Christian' ideals, at least he's able to admit that he didn't always have all the answers. His tormented outlook on failing to deal with pressure as WWF Heavyweight Champion in 1996 still rings true, and Michaels obviously wishes he had been able to handle things much better.

This is another ghost-written piece, but it stays true to telling Shawn's story properly. It's about one of the greatest in-ring performers ever, and captures the change in Shawn Michaels as a man into the bargain.
