20 Biggest Wrestling Moments That Ever Happened In July

11. InVasion

Wwf InvasionDate: July 22nd, 2001 WWF's InVasion pay-per-view absolutely, positively could/should have been one of the biggest events in the history of the business. Wrestling fans had long dreamed of an event where WCW wrestlers would take on WWF wrestlers to see who was the biggest, the baddest, the strongest, and the best. Let's ignore the fact that Vince McMahon's ego (and Buff Bagwell's incompetence) ruined the entire storyline, almost from the beginning, by loading up "Team WCW" with a lot of WWF guys. The InVasion event itself looked pretty good on paper. Apart from the main event, there were intriguing matches like Billy Kidman VS X-Pac, William Regal VS Raven, Edge & Christian VS Lance Storm & Mike Awesome, and Jeff Hardy VS Rob Van Dam. It was that main event that had everyone paying attention, though. Representing the WWF were "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, Kane, and Chris Jericho. Their opponents were The Alliance, consisting of Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page, Rhyno, and The Dudley Boyz. The match ended with Austin turning his back on the WWF and becoming the leader of The Alliance, so once again, a WWF name was added to the group, essentially giving wrestling fans the same feuds they had already been seeing. Still a historic storyline, and still a historic pay-per-view event, but also still one of the bigger disappointments in recent wrestling memory altogether.
