4. Borne Again
Sometimes, ECW's subtle jabs at the competition wrote themselves. In 1992, talented journeyman NWA and WCW grappler Matt Borne began appearing in the World Wrestling Federation as an evil wrestling clown named Doink. Of course, couple that with the eventual addition of his vertically challenged manager "Dink," and its a recipe for either a) huge merchandise sales for WWF's youth market, or b) hate from less inclined to love gimmicks wrestling fans worldwide. By 1994 though, Doink was out of the WWF, and after losing a match against then-ECW World Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas, he cut a promo burying Vince McMahon and the WWF's childish direction and was briefly billed in ECW as, yes, "Borne Again."
