5. Harold Sakata Gets Fried Goldfinger (1964)
An unsmiling but unforgettable Bond villain, Oddjob in Goldfinger was memorably embodied by Hawaiian born wrestler Harold Sakata. Sakata actually won a silver medal in a weightlifting event at the London Olympics of 1948, but in the following decade turned to professional wrestling under the name the Great Tosh Togo. A regular on ITVs Saturday afternoon wrestling coverage, Sakata was spotted by director Guy Hamilton and invited to test for the role of Goldfingers mute but deadly chauffeur. In the film, Oddjobs chores included: driving Goldfingers car, serving his dinner and, most importantly, decapitating enemies with his steel plated bowler hat. The final showdown between Oddjob and Bond is one of the best of the franchise. Bond manages to dodge the henchmans best attempts to kill him and ends up electrocuting Oddjob when his hat gets stuck between metal bars. Did Bond plan the electrocution from the start or was he hoping to hit Oddjob with the bowler and thus forced into some split-second improvisation? Perhaps he took both eventualities into account. We'll never know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDDjxa7RsKg
