The Undertaker might have had the temerity to insist the SmackDown rank-and-file protect the blue brand in 2016 only months after building his WrestleMania feud with Shane McMahon entirely on Monday Night Raw, but 'The Deadman' did much to establish (and re-establish) the brand as a place to still see stars whenever Raw came raiding.

His work so often reflected a bizarre new motivation to make it better, too. Stripped of shortcuts and gimmicks, his feuds with Edge, Batista and select others saw the ageing conscience of the company outwork half of his substantially younger peers. This Undertaker that suddenly belonged all over again.
