When Hunter reached the point in his career where he didn't want to wrestle full time anymore, he became an authority figure. For that to work, he had to relieve Vince of his duties. It ended with Vince crying in the ring with him. Of course, the angle made no sense when Vince came back down the road and changed things up again.
