20 Loudest Pops In WrestleMania History

8. Stone Cold Comes Home - WrestleMania X-Seven

In 2001, €œStone Cold€ Steve Austin was still the most popular wrestler in the world, but right behind up at a close second was The Rock. Heading into WrestleMania X-Seven, the pair were in a fierce feud over The Rock€™s WWF Championship, and at any other time and place, it would have likely been a split crowd between the two babyfaces. However, WrestleMania X-Seven took place in Austin€™s home state of Texas, and there€™s nothing quite like a hometown pop so when The Rattlesnake returned to Texas for WrestleMania X-Seven, the crowd nearly tore the roof off. The audience was firmly on Austin€™s side throughout, even when The Rattlesnake infamously joined forces with Vince McMahon to ensure he walked out champion, the crowd didn€™t quite know how to react. The decision to have Austin€™s heel turn to occur in his home state is most likely the reason the turn wasn€™t well received, as Texan fans just don€™t want to boo Austin, no matter what he€™s up to in the ring. That night, he proved why he€™s one of the most popular superstars ever by still getting some of the loudest pops in WrestleMania history, even after allying with the most evil character the WWF had ever seen.
