Over twenty years ago, the majority of wrestling fans just hadnt ever seen a ladder match and had no idea what to expect when Shawn Michaels faced Razor Ramon to determine who the true Intercontinental Champion was. The first televised Ladder Match is masterclass in structure and pacing as both men seem to be learning and adapting on the fly to this new match type, figuring out what they can do as they go. It was Shawn Michaels who figured out that the ladder could be much more than a weapon, as he dove onto Razor Ramon in the most historic splash since Jimmy Snuka dived off a steel cage. The fans in Madison Square Garden went crazy for Michaels, realising that they were truly part of something iconic and its now one of the most replayed WrestleMania moments.
