MTV’s The War To Settle The Score WWF event in February 1985 was intended to properly introduce the Rock N’ Wrestling Connection to a worldwide audience prior to the gamble that was the first WrestleMania.

In all the bedlam that followed the event, ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund would famously end up interviewing notorious pop artist and long time wrestling fan Andy Warhol backstage, who (in his usual slightly supercilious, ironic way) had plenty of nice things to say about the spectacle he’d just witnessed.

What people didn’t realise - including ‘Mean’ Gene himself - is that Warhol wasn’t supposed to be there. He’d been wandering around backstage and walked through the wrong door, suddenly finding himself on camera and manhandled in front of a microphone, and had to quickly improvise something when asked the question.

Still, he retained his poise with some aplomb.
