20 Most Controversial Wrestling PPVs Of All Time

9. Halloween Havoc 1998

Controversy: The show going longer than its allotted time, causing buyers to miss the main event; Hogan VS Warrior 2 Wrestling pay-per-views have been getting three-hour blocks. Everyone knows that. Wrestling companies themselves should damn sure know that. Why, then, did WCW's Halloween Havoc go off the air in 1998 while the event was still going on? There are fails, and then there are inexplicable fails. This was the latter. The company was forced to air the main event, in its entirety, on Nitro the night after. It speaks volumes that the time gaffe isn't even the most remembered and eye roll-worthy thing that took place during the show. Earlier in the night, fans were "treated" to a rematch that was nearly a decade in the making... Hulk Hogan VS The Ultimate Warrior. This time, it was Hollywood Hogan VS The Warrior, and both men were obviously much older, but it was still treated and hyped as one of the biggest matches the industry had ever seen. What transpired was one of the worst matches of the decade, and perhaps, of all-time. Word is that Hogan went to Eric Bischoff and demanded that Warrior be brought in because he (Hogan) was uncomfortable with his loss at WrestleMania 6 being on his record without a "revenge" win. Warrior was paid a lot of money to come in and "get Hogan's heat back", essentially. It was an ego-driven move, pure and simple, but it ended up making everyone involved look terrible.
