20 Most Controversial Wrestling PPVs Of All Time

20. WrestleMania 3

Controversy: Debated attendance numbers through the years There is absolutely denying how important WrestleMania 3 is in the annals of wrestling history. The Hulk Hogan VS Andre The Giant match is, at worst, no lower than third or fourth on the list of the biggest (not best) of all-time. The same can be said for the Randy Savage VS Ricky Steamboat match on the list of best matches in WrestleMania history. The controversy here is whether or not the WWF really had 93,173 fans in attendance like they've been claiming for 28 years now. That number was a record for an live sporting event at an indoor venue in North America for nearly 23 years. Several reports have accused that number of being inflated, putting the "real" attendance number closer to 78,000. That would still be an incredible number, especially for the 1980's, but it doesn't have the same aura as 93,173 does. We'll probably never know the truth, unfortunately, so fans have no choice but to go with the numbers presented to us by WWE.
