14. The Rhodes Brothers vs. The Shield - Battleground 2013
In September of 2013, Cody Rhodes ran afoul of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and found himself unemployed following a defeat at the hands of Randy Orton. From there, his brother Goldust also fell prey to an RKO while his legendary father, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes," was knocked unconscious by a Big Show manipulated by The Authority. Determined to get his job back and avenge his family, Cody partnered with Goldust to battle The Shield's Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in a match rife with consequences for the close-knit family should they prove unsuccessful. Emotions were at a fever pitch as Cody and Goldust found themselves at a disadvantage early but fought back. With Dusty blasting Dean Ambrose with a Bionic Elbow at ringside, Cody was able to deliver Cross Rhodes to Rollins and pick up the win for him and his family. The WWE Superstars, weary of the absolute power The Authority had developed in the weeks prior to the bout, flooded onto the stage to congratulate the victors. Tears flowed from the eyes of father and sons as they embraced in a truly heartwarming moment not regularly seen in World Wrestling Entertainment.
