17. The Moondogs Vs. The Star Riders (1992)

In the Spring of 1992, a new team came into the USWA called The Star Riders, Rock and Blade. One of the Riders, Charlie €˜Rock€™ Yeager, was shocked to see an enhancement guy come back to the locker room after a match with the Moondogs with his back covered in blood.

He asked him, "€œMan, what the hell happened to you?"€ When the job guy told Charlie it came from working with the notoriously rough Moondogs, he couldn't believe it. "€œF**k," he exclaimed. "You did that for twenty bucks?"€

The next night there was a Red Neck Tough Man tag team challenge, which was an eight team battle royal with a new team entering the fray every couple of minutes. There were wooden boards, trash cans, and all kinds of other assorted weaponry in the ring. The Star Riders entered the match and while Charlie was looking around for someone to pair off with, Moondog Spot clocked him in the back of his head with a chair, giving him a concussion.

Charlie was spitting, cussing, and kicking the furniture when he got back to the dressing room, vowing to get even with Spot. The next day, Yeager taped up his workout glove and put a leather ring glove over it so his fist was as hard as a rock. When he made it to the ring and noticed Spot by himself, he dragged him into the corner by his hair and then nailed him with a hard punch to the face.

Spot was dazed and dropped to one knee while Yeager continued to unload on him full-force with uppercuts. Jerry Lawler was in another corner with Spot€™'s tag partner Spike and told him, "€œHey, that guy is shooting on your partner! You better go help him."€

Yeager saw him coming and jumped out of the ring, making a beeline for the dressing room. He and his partner grabbed their bags and ran out of the building. In the dressing room Spot was walking around with a bloody face, in a bad way. Eventually he had to have eye surgery.

Spike was waving his gun around, threatening to kill the Star Riders if he got his hands on them. The cops were called and highway patrol pulled over the Star Riders on their way out of Tennessee, advising them to leave the state and never come back or else they could not be responsible for what would happen to them.
