20 Most Underappreciated WWE Stars Of The 21st Century

19. Apollo Crews

As Uhaa Nation, Apollo Crews made a name for himself on the independent and international scenes - most notably in Japan's Dragon Gate organization and the company's American affiliate, Dragon Gate USA. Working with stars like Ricochet, Johnny Gargano, and Akira Tozawa, he caught WWE's eye and was signed to a developmental deal in late 2014.

Crews debuted on NXT the following year and wowed fans with his ability. Within a matter of months, it looked like the brand had found its next main-event star, but just after WrestleMania, WWE decided to call Crews up to the main roster. That would have been fine, if they had a plan for him. They didn't, and almost a year later, Crews is lucky to get on TV most weeks.

Crews, more than anyone else on this list, still has plenty of time to make an impact in WWE. Let's hope he doesn't become like so many other superstars whom the company labels as damaged goods and then refuses to ever push.
