The McMahon family now produces around 3,584,858 hours of professional wrestling television every week, along with at least one major event every month. But when did it all start for the McMahon family? When was the very first McMahon family produced wrestling event?

It took place on January 7th 1953, in the Turner's Arena in Washington D.C. Vince McMahon Sr. had recently purchased the arena, and the show is considered to be the very first event of what would become the WWE as we know it today. The show was headlined by a colossal battle between Primo Carnera and Lu Kim, who fought to a draw when other wrestlers got involved.

The irony of the first WWE main event finishing in a no contest thanks to interference is not lost on me.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
