It's no secret that Shawn Michaels was a major pain in the ass to basically everyone in the latter stages of his original WWE run, which reached fever pitch in the lead-up to his WrestleMania XIV main event WWE Title match against Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The bout cemented Austin's ascent to the top of the mountain, but given Michaels' complicity in the Montreal Screwjob the year prior, and his shocking record of evading title losses, many in the company were understandably nervous about HBK actually doing the job to Austin.

Rumours have circulated for years that 'Taker taped up his fists and directly threatened Michaels with violence, but in more recent years, HBK stated his own version of events:

"Mark went to everybody and told them, 'If this doesn't go down the way it should, I'm going to have a big problem and Shawn is going to have a big problem. I'll go over there and beat the heck out of him.' But he never had to say anything to me.
My whole intention at WrestleMania XIV was to drop the belt to Steve, but I was going to make everybody sweat it out and make them think I wasn't. Obviously, I got that accomplished. That's extremely unprofessional, but that's exactly who I was and what I was doing."

When you're a locker room leader of 'Taker's stature, you sure don't need to make your threats directly.
