The Montreal Screwjob is one of the most infamous happenings in wrestling history, whereby Bret Hart was "screwed" out of the WWE Title at Survivor Series 1997 under highly dubious circumstances.

As anyone who's seen the fantastic documentary Wrestling with Shadows can attest, the backstage atmosphere following the match was toxic to say the least, with an incensed Hart ready to put fists to Vince McMahon.

Bret did have support from outside of his immediate circle, though, with The Undertaker stepping up to his role as locker room leader and paying a visit to McMahon's locked office, where he insisted the boss go speak to Bret.

McMahon listened to 'Taker, which led to the famously heated confrontation between McMahon and Hart, which concluded with Hart clocking McMahon in the face. Inadvertently, it was 'Taker's resolve which allowed this moment to happen.
