20 Things You Didn't Know About WrestleMania (1985-1994)

12. WrestleManias IV And V Were NOT At Trump Plaza

Despite what the promotional posters said, WrestleManias IV and V that emanated from Atlantic City, New Jersey did not take place at Trump Plaza. Instead, both events were held in the Atlantic City Convention Center, located 1.5 miles away from Donald Trump's attraction. Donald Trump did sponsor the WWF events and so he wanted his new Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino to get the billing and exposure that came with promoting WrestleMania in the 1980s. The Trump Plaza opened in May of 1984 and was home to the Show Of Shows in '88 and '89. Coincidentally, in 1993, the other American city famous for its casinos and nightlife, Las Vegas, hosted WrestleMania IX and it was held in a outdoors parking lot, not inside Caesar's Palace like it was promoted. Donald Trump and the "Trump Plaza" in Atlantic City can still proudly make its claim as the only location to hold back-to back WrestleManias.
