In between stints in the WWF and WCW, Bam Bam Bigelow spent a couple of years at Paul Heyman's east coast promotion, ECW. His first and only reign with the company's top championship began at a house show in late '97, and he would hold onto it for over a month before losing it back to its previous holder, Shane Douglas. Both men were so badly injured from the rematch that neither of them appeared on television for over a month.
