20 Ways WWE Killed CM Punk And AJ Lee's Passion For Wrestling

17. Literally Being The Best In The World

There was once an era in WWE where it was impossible to assume that you were the ONLY one who was the "Best In The World" at pro wrestling. In the 80s, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage could wake up and believe this about themselves, but then hear about a five-star Ric Flair match or Bruiser Brody and Terry Funk ripping it up in Japan. In the 90s, Bret Hart had Shawn Michaels and The Rock had Steve Austin. However, for the 10 years that Punk wrestled in WWE, it's easy to argue that on every level, he was the absolute best at wrestling on the planet. Of course, the same can be said for AJ Lee, too. The moments when you walk into a locker room year after year and don't feel like you see anyone that you feel is actively competing to get on your level has to be absolutely soul-crushing.
