11. The Rock And Chris Jericho
Now we enter the period of time in which WWE Creative began using the tag team championships as a prop rather than treating them with the respect they deserve. In the fall of 2001, The Rock and Chris Jericho were embroiled in a rivalry over the WCW Championship. As tensions began rising and the differences between them intensified, the decision was made to give them a run with tag titles, if for no other reason than to demonstrate the growing dislike between them. The mega stars defeated one of the most decorated and respected tag teams in WWE history, the Dudley Boyz. Yes, the two guys who could not get along under any circumstances defeated a time widely regarded as one of the best of all-time. If that was not bad enough, Rock and Jericho held the championships for a whopping eight days before losing them. The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment and the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla will go down in the history books as two of the greatest and most successful competitors to ever lace a pair of boots. What they will not be remembered for is a tag title reign that never should have happened, at a time when WWE completely and willingly disregarded the credibility, legitimacy and prestige of its championships.
