19. Randy Orton Ends Punk's First Reign...Without Beating Him
At Unforgiven 2008, Punk was set to defend his World Heavyweight Title in a Championship Scramble match, but half an hour before the match was set to start, Randy Orton confronted Punk backstage and, along with Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, and Manu, attacked Punk. Orton then delivered a punt to Punk's head, and when Punk was supposed to come out to the ring near the end of the match, Chris Jericho instead came out, effectively replacing Punk and causing him to forfeit the title. The match ended with Jericho, who had taken a severe beating from Shawn Michaels earlier in the night, winning the title, but it was an extremely lame way to take the belt away from Punk. Why not just have him wrestle and lose it? For every Punk fan out there, especially the poor fans who paid to see him wrestle that night, this was doubly disappointing.
