20 WTF Moments In Stone Cold Steve Austin's WWE Career

17. Losing To Jim Duggan In 35 Seconds

35 seconds isn't a lot of time. It's almost a minute, but not quite. It's about the length of a TV commercial. It's definitely not long enough for a wrestling match. However, that was all the time that Stone Cold was allotted during one match when he was wrestling for WCW. About a year after the split of The Hollywood Blondes and after he had begun to embark on a fairly respectable career as a singles wrestler, Austin had a major setback. 1994's Starrcade saw him win the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship from Dustin Rhodes before having it taken from him by a victorious Ricky Steamboat. By the time that summer was over and Fall Brawl was imminent, the card had been set and it would be Austin versus Steamboat in a rematch for the United States title. Steamboat, plagued by back pains, reneged on his commitment and WCW declared Austin the winner and new titleholder due to forfeiture. It wasn't over though. For some reason, there was still a match, except Jim Duggan stepped in for Steamboat to fight the brand new champ. The bout was an insulting 35 seconds, Duggan came away with the title, and Austin would never get his hands on the United States Championship again during his time in WCW.
