20 WWE And UFC Controversies Created By Brock Lesnar
7. Comments On Homosexuals
The PG Era might better be named the PC era - politically correct. You can't offend anyone. You can't discriminate against any identifiable group. The latter isn't a bad thing, but it's hard to play a "bad guy" if you can't offend people. That said there's a difference between playing a character, and actually saying things that are discriminatory. Back in 2004, when he was trying to make the NFL, the topic of a gay man thinking Lesnar was cute somehow came up while ESPN was in earshot. Lesnar lost his cool. He then told ESPN "I don't like gays. Write that down in your little notebook. I don't like gays." As he wasn't under contract anywhere at the time, he avoided any fine. Years later, fellow UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrone would be fined and suspended for referring to transgender fighter Fallon Fox as a "freak" - so it's probably best that Lesnar wasn't in the sport when he made those comments.
