20 WWE And UFC Controversies Created By Brock Lesnar
15. The "Growth Hormone" Incident
When you have a guy with the size and physique of Brock Lesnar, eventually the doubters come. Never mind the fact that he was a huge kid in high school. Never mind the fact that he has been tested by the NCAA, the NFL, the UFC, and the WWE. Surely, he's juicing, right? The thing with Brock Lesnar is - never once has he failed a drug test. Nor has he ever dodged one, the way Alistair Overeem and Wanderlei Silva did. That would have been the end of it, except that back in 2001, Kentucky police arrested Lesnar and announced he had received a large quantity of steroids. His mugshot made the rounds. The damage was immediately done. Then they quickly had to backtrack. Lab tests showed what Lesnar had were not steroids, but perfectly legal drugs. Athletes take supplements all the time. Police referred to it as a "legal growth hormone" while his lawyer referred to it as a vitamin supplement. Either way, charges were dropped. In theory, a legal supplement could be banned for athletes, but at the time, Lesnar was years away from even considering the UFC. Still, despite having his name cleared, this controversial incident would dog him for years.
