20 WWE And UFC Controversies Created By Brock Lesnar
13. Snubbing Bud Light
Just about the only time Brock Lesnar got a serious talking to in the UFC was when he dissed a sponsor. That's one line you do not cross, because it can hurt the bottom line for everyone in the company. After beating Frank Mir at UFC 100 - the promotion's best selling PPV in its history - Lesnar exclaimed "I'm going to drink a Coors Light. That's right a Coors, Bud Light don't pay me nothing." It was a major faux pas. Bud Light were the official UFC sponsor when it came to beer. Coors was not. The story was picked up by the likes of CNBC, who pointed out that Lesnar's flub was becoming more common. Athletes wind up with one sponsor, leagues another - it's why you sometimes see an athlete drinking out of a plain cup, or a can with a taped over logo. In the end, it's all about the money. By the post fight press conference, a contrite Lesnar apologised and was seen sitting with a Bud Light.
