20 WWE Champions Who Never Got Their Rematch

4. Hulk Hogan

Title Lost: WWF Championship Lost Title To: Andre the Giant This of course would be the classic The Main Event title switch that came with the help of an evil twin referee. Hulk Hogan€™s four-year title reign would come to an end at the hands of Andre the Giant under those dubious circumstances. Andre in turn would only hold the title for a matter of minutes, as he would surrender the world title to Ted DiBiase. The Million Dollar Man would actually €œdefend€ the title at a few house shows before WWF President Jack Tunney stripped DiBiase of the belt and ruled that Andre could not forfeit the title and hand it over to another wrestler. But since the Giant had surrendered the title, he was no longer champ either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIE8XvGVMbg This set up the infamous (and godawful) 14-man tournament at WrestleMania IV, which €œMacho Man€ Randy Savage won to launch his yearlong reign, which ended at the hands of €“ wait for it €“ Hulk Hogan. So while Hogan never got his rematch against Andre, he did get the championship back a year later.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
